Qualification Description

This qualification allows for the attainment of occupational specific competencies for those working in operational roles undertaking government investigation related functions, with a particular focus on meeting the ethical and legislative requirements of the public service. It is suitable for individuals who need to apply a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills in specific contexts within the investigations and regulatory compliance environment.

The generalist qualification covers the broad range of skills required to operate without supervision in a government investigations environment where an individual is required to plan, initiate, conduct and finalise an investigation. The regulatory compliance specialisation covers the skills required by those responsible for ensuring statutory compliance with the requirements of legislation, regulations and organisational policy.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

To be awarded the qualification students must be graded competent in all assessments for 15 units of competency within a 12 month enrolment period. Enrolment periods beyond the designated 12 month period will incur additional fees. 

Learning Pathways

10-day face to face (F2F) training

You can complete Cert IV in 9 – 10 days. You can either do it with face to face in-person courses. Or, you can choose the “virtual classrooms”, where you attend the class from home. 

Typically, classes run Monday – Friday over  2 consecutive weeks. But we do have other flexible options – please book a call to discuss further.

Students can also learn at their own pace, with our distance learning option.  In this case, each course unit takes about 4-5 hours to complete and there are 15 units in the course. You can study at a time convenient to you.

The course involves 15 units and a total of 34 assessments.

The Certificate IV in Government Investigations is aimed at an operational level. This qualification is the recommended course for operational investigators. The Diploma covers managerial aspects over operational skills. The Certificate IV in Government Investigations is not a prerequisite for the Diploma. Students wanting to enrol in the Diploma who have not completed the Certificate IV in Government Investigations qualification ideally will have advanced knowledge of operational investigative practices.

Yes you can RPL one or all units of competency in a qualification on our scope. You may RPL up to three units of competency whilst being enrolled in a course, without incurring any additional fees. Application of a full RPL of the Certificate IV in Government Investigations qualification costs $2,325.

After we have received your request for RPL, ICETS will email a pack which is made up of two separate documents. The first document details the competency requirements for every unit in the course package. The second document is the RPL application form. The application form is to be completed by the applicant addressing the requirements detailed in the form including evidence of competency for the unit/s you are applying for. The application form along with all indexed evidence is emailed back to ICETS for evaluation. Payment for an RPL application does not guarantee the application will be successful.

Applicants will have up to three attempts to prove competency.

From the commencement of the course, you have 12 months to complete the Certificate IV in Government Investigations. Enrolment extensions cost $250 for three months.

No, unless you have completed and passed all units of competency, you will not receive your qualification. Students will be provided time in the program timetable for assessment work.

According to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) the combined nominal hours for the units of competency in ICETS Certificate IV in Government Investigations qualification is 680 hours. However, the nominal hours required to complete the qualification will vary from student to student.

For Individuals: We do not offer discounts on course fees, however, payment plans are available.

For specific organisation training programs: Discounts are offered for programs with 10 or more enrolments in a single transaction.

No, unfortunately we don’t have any government funding available as ICETS is a private Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

Yes, we offer personalised payment plans which require an initial deposit and then an agreed amount every month until the course fee is paid in full. The standard monthly fee is $500 with a variety of initial deposit amounts on offer. Note, ICETS will not issue a qualification if course fees are outstanding.

We have several payment options available to choose from once you have enrolled. Options available are electronic funds transfer, debit or credit card or payment plan. ICETS uses the secure EZYPAY payment portal. Full distance learning students who have not elected to pay their course fee via a payment plan must pay the full course fee before access to courseware will be provided.

Your personal information (including the personal information contained on this enrolment form and your training activity data) may be used or disclosed by ICETS for statistical, regulatory and research purposes ICETS may disclose your personal information for these purposes to third parties, including:

  • Commonwealth and State or Territory government departments and authorised agencies;
  • NCVER;

Personal information disclosed to NCVER may be used or disclosed by NCVER for the following purposes:

  • populating authenticated VET transcripts;
  • facilitating statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage;
  • pre-populating RTO student enrolment forms;
  • understanding how the VET market operates, for policy, workforce planning and consumer information; and
  • administering VET, including programme administration, regulation, monitoring and evaluation.

You may receive a student survey which may be administered by a government department or NCVER employee, agent or third party contractor or other authorised agencies. Please note you may opt out of the survey at the time of being contacted.

Training Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Higher Education offerings from ICETS.

Tuition Fees Payment Policy

Payment Upon Enrolment:

  • Tuition fees must be paid in full or a deposit (if applicable) at the time of enrolment to secure a position in the program.

Employer-Generated Invoices (Purchase Order and Invoice):

  • For employer-paid enrolments with an approved Purchase Order, ICETS will issue an invoice for open program enrolments. Payment for invoices is due within 30 days of the issuance date.
  • Cancellation Due to Non-Payment:
    • Failure to pay tuition fees within the specified period will lead to enrolment cancellation, and the allocated position will be forfeited. An email notification will be sent to the enrolled student before this action is taken.
  • Individual Enrolments Payment Structure:
  • For individual enrolments (non-agency or employer-directed):
  • To confirm your spot in the course, a deposit of $1450.00 is required upon enrolment for individual enrolments (non-agency or employer-directed). You have a maximum time frame of 14 days to make this deposit. In the event that a course reaches full capacity during this period, we will promptly reach out to you, prompting the deposit to secure your position. Failure to submit the deposit within the allocated time will result in forfeiture of your position, and you will receive notification by email.
  • Your enrolment will be considered tentative until the deposit is received.

Balance Payment:

  • The remaining balance must be paid at the commencement of the face-to-face or virtual training course.
  • Distance Learners Payment Requirement:
    • Distance learners must have the entire course fee paid in full before accessing any learning assessments.
  • Accepted Payment Methods:
    • Payment can be made through electronic bank transfer and credit cards by phoning us.
  • Material Issuance Condition:
    • No program materials, including courseware, will be issued for program preparation until all required payments have been successfully made.

CANCELLATIONS, REFUND POLICY, TRANSFERS TO ALTERNATE PROGRAMS

  • Notification Process:
    • Any cancellations, refund requests, or transfers to alternate programs must be communicated in writing to info@icets.com.au.
  • Timeframe for Refund Eligibility:
    • To be eligible for a full refund, notifications of cancellations must be received more than 10 working days before the program commencement date.
  • Refund Process:
    • If a cancellation is advised in writing more than 10 working days prior to the program commencement date, ICETS will promptly refund the fees paid in full.
  • Late Cancellations:
    • Cancellations made less than 10 working days before the program commencement date will not be eligible for a refund. Fees paid for late cancellations will not be allocated to another program.
  • Limitations on Responsibility:
    • ICETS acknowledges that unforeseen changes to work commitments or personal circumstances may occur within the 10 working day period. However, ICETS cannot accept responsibility for such changes during this timeframe.

Note:

In exceptional circumstances, ICETS may review requests for late cancellations on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must provide compelling evidence of extraordinary circumstances for consideration.

TRANSFERS

Requests for transfers to alternate programs can be accommodated when ICETS is notified in writing at least 10 working days before the program commencement date, and there is availability in the chosen program. The first transfer will be accepted without charge if ICETS receives written notification at least 10 working days before the scheduled commencement date. However, all subsequent transfers will incur an administration charge of $55.00 (including GST).

NON-ATTENDANCE (NO SHOW) - If a student fails to attend a program, program fees will NOT be refunded or allocated to another program.

SUBSTITUTIONS - Requests for substitutions are to be made in writing to info@icets.com.au and can be made at any time up to 10 working days before the program commencement date.

GOODS AND SERVICES TAX (GST)

Advertised prices include Goods and Services Tax (GST). While the education component of the program or qualification fee is GST-free, GST is applicable to the portion associated with catering, in compliance with GST legislation. Tax invoices, aligning with GST legislation, will be provided for all enrolments, clearly specifying the amount of GST separately.

GENERAL - ICETS  

ICETS retains the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule programs due to low enrolments or unforeseen circumstances. In instances where a fee refund is applicable, ICETS is committed to processing such refunds within a period of 90 days. While efforts are made to ensure the accuracy of course details at the time of publication, ICETS acknowledges that changes may be necessary. Therefore, ICETS reserves the right to modify program fees, dates, content, speakers, or presentation methods at its discretion. In the pursuit of quality assurance and to aid students, ICETS also retains the right to video and/or audio record learning sessions.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES AND REFUND REVIEW - 

ICETS is committed to reviewing its refund policy in instances of special circumstances. These circumstances may encompass:

  • Medical Conditions: Where a student's health significantly prevents attendance.
  • Family/Personal Issues: In cases of family death, severe medical problems, or unforeseen financial difficulties that make attendance unreasonable.

To substantiate a claim for special circumstances, evidence should include (but is not limited to) the following:

  • Medical Circumstances: A medical certificate from a qualified practitioner.
  • Family/Personal Circumstances: A statutory declaration witnessed by a Justice of the Peace. In cases involving family medical problems, a medical certificate from a qualified practitioner.

ICETS will consider a student's circumstances as beyond their control if a situation arises that a reasonable person would deem unrelated to the individual's actions or inactions, directly or indirectly, for which the student is not responsible. This situation must be unusual, uncommon, or abnormal. Each review will be carefully examined, with a decision based on the merits of the student's claim, supported by independent documentation.

COURSE EXTENSION APPLICATIONS -

Students seeking an extension beyond the stipulated completion timeframe are subject to the following conditions:

  • A three-month enrolment extension may be granted upon payment of a $250 fee. This extension will only be approved after payment, coupled with a demonstration of your continued commitment to course completion.
  • Should a second three-month extension be sought, an additional $250 fee will apply. Approval for this extension is contingent on your sustained commitment to training completion.
  • No further extensions will be granted after this second three-month period has expired.
  • All applications for extension must be received at least 30 days before the course expiration date.

Enrolment Cancellation:

ICETS reserves the right to automatically CANCEL an enrolment if no contact has been made after the 12-month or the 24 month course duration or an application for extension has not been submitted meeting the conditions. In such cases, Re-enrolment fees are;

  • To re-attend a face-to-face in-person course program

  • To re-attend a virtual classroom course program

$1,500 per student

  • To re-enrol in the distance learning program

$1,000.00 per student

Diploma of Government Investigations
